 International Students

Applicants can apply under three categories (a) Domicile Karnataka category, (b) General category or (c) Foreign/NRI category.

Domicile Karnataka: Applicants who are domicile in for 5 years’ or more in Karnataka can apply under this category. Admissions are done through a process which has an application assessment followed by an interview, which eventually leads to the admission of a student. Students applying in this category shall be required to submit 5 years’ study certificate in Karnataka duly attested by the Block Education Officer.

General Category: Applicants who are not domicile in Karnataka can apply under this category. Admissions are done through a process which has an application assessment followed by an interview, which eventually leads to the admission of a student.

Foreign/NRI: Foreign nationals, Non Resident Indians or Indian nationals supported by NRI relatives can apply under Foreign/NRI category. Admissions are done on the basis of marks obtained in the qualifying examination. Students applying in this category shall be required to obtain the Equivalency certificate from the AIU, New Delhi and have a score of at least 6.5 in IELTS or equivalent qualifying test for English language proficiency.

On receipt of the application and payment, the application number will be communicated.


Application Process

The entire application process for admissions is online and paperless in keeping with the University’s commitment to environmental responsibility. Applicant shall login through the website and register themselves by providing the information about their e-mail ID, mobile number and date of birth. On successful registration, an email will be sent to the registered e-mail ID with login credentials to access TDU’s application form and complete it online.

Only applications that are complete in all respects will only be considered for assessment and admission.

Admission to any programme at TDU is a two step process and any offer of a place in the University’s degree programme will depend on:

  1. Review of Application Forms
    1. First shortlist based on eligibility, and completeness of the Application form.
    2. Second shortlist based on qualitative aspects in both scholastic and co-scholastic performance
  2. Final selection based on Personal Interview of the candidate.



It is not mandatory that all the applicants, who have filled the Application Forms, would be invited for an interview. All the completely filled in application forms, would primarily be screened for their correctness and adherence to specified regulations and passed on to a select committee comprising of nominees of Vice Chancellor. Applications without proper documentation will not be accepted. For the short listing of Application Forms, the committee members will evaluate the candidates on the basis of certain parameters, such as academics, co-scholastic grades, community work, etc., furnished by the Applicant.


Personal Interview

Shortlisted applicants will receive an invitation to appear for interview by email and also listed on TDU’s website. On receiving the email, the candidate should respond within the specified deadline and also indicate whether they will appear for the interview in person or Online. The interview will be conducted by a panel comprising of not less than two members, who are nominated by Vice Chancellor. The final short listing from interview session will be based on parameters like communication skills, confidence level of applicant, general awareness, subject interest etc.

It is important for all applicants to note;

  1. The admission process at TDU is solely based on the merit of the applicant.
  2. The final selection will be notified on TDU’s website and with an email sent to the candidate.
  3. Candidates offered admission must send their acceptance by email within the deadline informed on the website and email.
  4. The University shall have a wait list and it will be the University’s discretion to use it or not.
  5. Wherever there is a requirement for qualitative assessment, the decision of the Selection Committee in that regard shall be final and binding.


Application Fees

The application fee for each programme shall be Rs. 500/-. Applicants can pay them either through Credit/Debit/Net Banking to TDU.

Eligibility Criteria

Undergraduate / Bachelor’s Programme

Class 12 / Pre University certificate from any recognized Indian Board or any valid international certificate equivalent to the Class 12.

Applicants appearing for their final examinations by June 2017 are eligible to apply. Applicants who have completed their Class 12 / Pre University board examination in 2016 are also eligible to apply. Applicants should have successfully completed 12th standard examination (or its equivalent) with a minimum of 50% marks.

All offers of admission are provisional till the candidate submits the proof of successful completion of Class 12 / Pre University study and verification of the submitted documents with the original.


Post Graduate Programme

A Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline (including Sciences, Humanities, Engineering, Medicine, Agriculture, Environmental Sciences, Commerce, Management, etc.) from a recognized University.

Undergraduate / Bachelor’s students who are appearing for their final year examinations and completing their graduation on or before September 2017 are also eligible to apply. The offer of provisional admission is valid only on successful completion of graduation and the verification of the submitted documents with the original.

Candidates with work experience are actively encouraged to apply


Certificate and Postgraduate Diploma Courses

Admission and eligibility criteria for the above courses will be prescribed according to the course.
