Researchers at the University of Trans disciplinary Health Sciences and Technology (TDU), National Centre for Biological Sciences, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research (NCBS-TIFR) and Institute of Ayurveda and Integrative Medicine (I-AIM), Bangalore, are conducting a study to –

  1. Document cognitive function in the elderly Indian population
  2. Explore the effects of Brahmi Ghrita on cognition

What is cognitive function?

It is the ability of the brain to process information. The ability to think, learn, and remember (memory) is an important component of brain health. Some tests and questionnaires that are specially designed to understand cognitive functions will be used to assess cognitive health.

What is Brahmi Ghrita?

Brahmi (Bacopa monnieri) is a medicinal plant. Brahmi Ghrita is a classical Indian formulation of Brahmi
processed in Ghrita (ghee) prepared using an Ayurvedic tradition.

What do we do?

  • Cognitive tests of attention, memory, and language (Duration – 2 hours single session)
  • Individuals identified with mild-memory problems can choose to consume Brahmi Ghrita for 3 months that include 3-4 visits for
    assessment

Who is eligible for these tests?

Men and women above 55 years without any psychiatric illness
