Training Theme

  • Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) is a recent technological revolution in life science that transformed our understanding of life’s genome landscape
  • Present training helps to get a deeper understanding in NGS technology with a special focus on RNA world and transcriptome analysis
  • Teach the fundamentals of NGS workflow from sample preparation to sequencing.
  • Globally huge demand and opportunities in genomics and industry

Objectives

  • Training capitalizing human resources to carry out NGS and transcriptome analysis.
  • Carry out high throughput research using genomic tools to foster trans-disciplinary dialogues in functional genomics.

Missions Accomplished

  • Created “Genomics Ecosystem” in the country by conducting 11 training programs
  • Trained > 400 Scientists (All streams of Biology, Engineering , Technology).
  • Achieved 100 % Literacy by the participants in Genomics and Bioinformatics

Students, Faculty and Scientists from Academia and Industries including Life Sciences, Biology, Computer Science, Medicine, Agriculture, Veterinary, Environmental Science and any other disciplines.

Schedule

13th Training
Day 1
  • Introduction to Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) Technology
    • Hands on: Transcriptome/RNA library preparation
    • Transcriptome sequencing by NGS platforms
Day 2 Hands On:

  • Introduction to high-end computing servers
  • Transcriptome sequence data formats.
  • Software for transcriptome data analysis
  • De novo and reference based transcriptome assembly
Day 3 Hands On:

  • Transcriptome quantification
  • Differential gene expression analysis
  • Functional annotation of genes
  • NGS data submission to NCBI
