Training Theme

  • Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) is a recent technological revolution in life science that transformed our understanding of life’s genome landscape
  • Present training helps to get a deeper understanding in NGS technology with a special focus on RNA world and transcriptome analysis
  • Teach the fundamentals of NGS workflow from sample preparation to sequencing.
  • Introduce Gene Editing tools

Objectives

  • Training and capitalizing human resources to carry out NGS and transcriptome analysis.
  • Carry out high throughput research using genomic tools to foster trans-disciplinary dialogues in functional genomics

  • Trained > 500 Scientists (All streams of Biology, Engineering , Technology).

Day 1

Introduction to Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) Technology
Hands on:

  • RNA Isolation
  • Transcriptome/RNA library preparation
Day 2

Hands on:

  • Transcriptome sequencing by NGS platforms
  • Transcriptome sequence data formats.
Day 3

Hands on:

  • Introduction to Bioinformatics
  • De novo based transcriptome assembly
  • Transcriptome quantification
  • Differential gene expression analysis
  • Functional annotation of genes
Day 4

Hands on:

  • Reference based transcriptome assembly
  • NGS data submission to NCBI
  • Navigating Genome Browsers
Day 5
  • Introductory talk on CRISPR CAS9 Technology and Applications
  • Hands on: Cloning,Ligation, Vector digestion, In-Fusion Cloning and Polymerase Chain Reaction
