Online Workshop on Role of Citizen Science in Research

Saturday, 19th September to Sunday, 20th September

Hobbyists have been helping with research for centuries in different capacities. In the colonial era, several European army servicemen and engineers were involved in publishing serious research about the natural history of the regions they visited for work. In ornithology more data is collected by non-scientists than scientists for centuries through breeding bird surveys and winter counts. In recent years a lot of attention is focused on enumerating and evaluating these contributions and actively involving hobby enthusiasts in scientific data collection as well as other areas.
