  • Established Genomics and Bioinformatics Training (trained over 500 researchers) Program
  • Founded Two Environmental Organizations; DNA Life DNA (2016) and Biodiversity Conservation & Research Trust (2001).
  • Developed Super-Resolution HLA Typing Technology for organ transplantation
  • Developed HLA Allele Calling Software, Tulita.
  • Established the Centre for Functional Genomics and Bioinformatics at Trans-Disciplinary University, Bengaluru.
  • Established the state-of-the-art ‘Next-Generation Genomics Facility’ at C-CAMP/NCBS, Bengaluru.
  • Led the Plant Genome Sequencing program in India: Sequenced Rice, Tulsi, Neem, Sandalwood, Bhodi Tree, etc.
  • Developed several genomic technologies to sequence DNA (HLA-typing, ddRAD, Infectious virus, AFLP, etc) and RNA (Full length mRNA, SAGE, 5’-RATE, CPA-sRNA, RNASeq).
  • Integrated functional genomics into International Rice Genome Sequencing project at Michigan State University, USA.
  • Worked with over 100 research organizations in India for sequencing of humans, animals, plants and microbes.

I am interested to engage with PhD students, young people interested in designing and executing innovative educational and outreach programs related to:

  1. Molecular study of plant -pathogen interactions
  2. Study of microbiome of humans and plants
  3. Dissection of traditional medicine using Omic technologies
  4. Development of genomics and bioinformatics tools
  5. Omic database development
