10th Training Program – “Hands-on Training on Next Generation Sequencing, Analysis & its Applications” (Feb 2019)

Preamble:

The progress of science is punctuated by the advent of revolutionary technologies that provide new ways and scales to formulate scientific questions and advance knowledge. Next-generation sequencing (NGS) technology, with its high-throughput capacity and low cost, has developed rapidly in recent years and become an important genome-wide tool to discover new genes, genomes and its elements. Over half of genome content is composed of jumping genes or Mobile genetic elements or transposable elements, which repetitive in nature and pose greater challenges for eukaryotic genome annotation. The expression of genome called “Transcriptome or RNA world” is complex and composed of varied transcripts per gene. Computational tools are evolving with speed and accuracy to address problems of genomes and transcriptomes. Hand-holding of participants and mentoring by genome experts throughout this training will create an ecosystem for experiential learning in real time.

The event was held from 11th February 2019 to 16th February 2019 at the TDU campus in Bengaluru.

  • To pave the way into huge data-sets and tackle it through the bioinformatics skills.

The event was held from 24th September, 2018 to 29th September, 2018 at the TDU campus in Bengaluru.

Training on Next Generation Genomic Technologies (Jun 2018)

Objective:

  • Recent advancements in DNA sequencing have made enormous contributions to understanding the biology of life forms. Reduced cost and increased speed of DNA sequencing have led to rapid growth of genomics. Functional significance of genomic elements (DNA, RNA, proteins, small molecules and phenotype) are still being unravelled in each organism. This workshop will provide an introduction to Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) technology, platforms, data generation, and data analysis.

The event was held from 25th June 2018 to 30th June 2018 at the TDU campus in Bengaluru.

Training on Transcriptome Sequencing and Analysis (April 2018)

Objective:

  • Training and capitalizing human resources to carry out NGS and transcriptome analysis
  • Carry out high throughput research using genomic tools to foster transdisciplinary dialogues in functional genomics

The event was held from 16th April 2018 to 21st April 2018 at the TDU campus in Bengaluru.

Training on Whole Genome Sequencing and Analysis (March 2018)

Objective:

  • High quality Training and capitalizing human resources to carry out Next Generation Sequencing and Big-Data Analysis
  • Carryout high-end research on genomic and functional genomics to solve the big problems
