Prof. Bhushan Patwardhan

Prof. Bhushan has over 30 years of experience in research and development in the area of evidence based Ayurveda, ethnopharmacology, drug discovery & development and integrative medicine. He is a Fellow of National Academy of Medical Sciences (India) and visiting Professor at IIAS, Shimla. He is present Chairman of APDC of NIPER. He has worked on Boards of several Universities and member of important national committees of the UGC, CSIR, DST, DBT, ICMR and FSSAI. He has worked on Taskforces of NKC and Planning Commission. He was invited as temporary consultant to the WHO Geneva.

He has worked as Director, Institute of Ayurveda and Integrative Medicine and was Vice Chancellor of a deemed University. He is on the research advisory committees of national institutions Manipal University, Nirma University and Trans-Disciplinary University Bengaluru. He is Editor-in-Chief of Journal of Ayurveda and Integrative Medicine published by Elsevier, Section Editor of CCHTS of Bentham Science, Academic Editor of eCAM (Hindawi) and is on Editorial Boards of many reputed Journals.

He is recipient of many awards and orations including Sir Ram Nath Chopra Oration, Waldemar Haffkine Oration, Dr C. Dwarkanath Oration, Dr P.K. Devi Oration, KLE University Oration, Dr P M Mehta Oration. He is recipient of Shri Gopaldas Parikh Award 2015, Harihar Mukherjee Memorial Award 2015, Parkhe Award, and Dewang Mehta Award. He has delivered invited lectures at many national and international bodies including ACS, ACR, UCLA, UIC, Johns Hopkins,INSA, IPS, IPC among many others.

He has attracted substantial research funding. He has authored many books and chapters with reputed publishers including Elsevier, Academic Press and Wiley. His recent scholarly book ‘Integrative Approaches for Health’ published by Academic Press Elsevier has received excellent reviews. He has guided 19 PhD students, 8 Indian Patents, 2 US Patents and over 120 research publications with Scholar h-Index 37, i10-index 75 and over 5200 citations.
