TATA Trusts Fellowship

TDU is pleased to announce that there is one TATA Trusts Fellowship support is available to PhD Student in the following four thematic areas.

  • Cerebro- Neural Disorders
  • Nutrition
  • Drinking Water
  • Malaria

Selected student will be provided Fellowship of Rs 50,000 each month along with a maximum contingency grant of up to Rs 1 lakh each year. The fellowship will be available for a maximum period of 4 years from the date of provisional admission to TDU Ph.D Programme.

Last date:

The last date to receive the application & research proposal is 16/05/2018.

Selection Criteria

The selection criteria will be broadly based on:

  • Student’s overall performance record including academic, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities.
  • A crisp, achievable statement of purpose that is trans-disciplinary in nature.
  • A good presentation and discussion of the statement of purpose before the Committee.
  • Any other conditions specifically laid down by the fellowship sponsor.


  • This Grant is open to resident Indians only.
  • This Grant is open to those students registered for the Ph.D. programme of TDU.
  • Application form duly filled in by the student and accompanied by the documents as mentioned below.
  • The applicants should have secured admission to TDU’s PhD program for the current academic year of study,

Mandatory Documents

  1. Printed and completely filled application form duly signed by the applicant
  2. Current year’s original fee paid receipts
  3. An Original cancelled cheque and copy of the first page of the bank passbook pertaining to the student’s bank account
  4. An original letter from TDU clearly stating the breakup of the fees, the category in which the student has secured admission, fees paid / to be paid and the amount of free ship applied for / received / to be received, for the current academic year. The letter should be signed by the Registrar of TDU.
  5. Mark sheets for the previous academic year duly self attested.
    Latest Income proof of all the earning members of the family:

    • a. For those in employment – Copy of the Income Tax returns and Form No. 16
    • b. For those in self-employment – Copy of the Income Tax returns
    • c. For those in employment in the unorganized sector – Employer’s certificate on the letter head of the company.
  6. Copy of the PAN card of the student & parents.

Other Terms and Conditions

  • Submitting an application form to the Trusts’ Office does not guarantee a Grant from the Trusts. No explanation whatsoever would be given if the application is rejected.
  • Original fee receipts, if submitted will be returned to the student after completion of the processes by the Trust office. All other documents will be retained by the Trust for its records.
  • Apart from the above instructions, it is hereby informed that the decision of the Trustees would be final and binding on all matters and on all persons pertaining to the application.
  • Application forms with incomplete / manipulated / false information shall be treated as void and legal action will be taken as deemed necessary.
  • The Trusts do not have any intermediaries / agents. Applicants are advised to beware of such individuals that claim to represent the Trusts and demand a share from the grant, if sanctioned. In case any such demands are made, applicants are requested to kindly bring the matter to the notice of Trust Office immediately
