Course Features

What will you get?

  • Basic understanding on how individuals are classified in Ayurveda and the logic underlying it’s use to design a diet.
  • What the Ayurveda Shastras (traditional texts) say about food, in terms of its classification, consumption and dietary practices. 
  • Where possible, comparisons to modern nutritional concepts to help you imagine a holistic approach to foods and diets. 
  • Through examples: pregnancy, diabetes, iron-deficiency anaemia and brain health, an introduction to dietary advice from Ayurveda applied to modern times. 
  • Interactive course format. Live sessions. Q & A welcome during lectures and by email. Includes assignments, self-administered quizzes and games to help participants learn new Sanskrit terms and their meanings. 
  • To receive a certificate, it is mandatory to complete two Assignments (~ 20mins each) and course feedback form (~5mins), within set deadline. Quizzes and games are voluntary. 
  • A handout that covers Sanskrit terminology.
  • A textbook that compliments lectures. 
  • Daily recordings of the lectures will be shared. All lectures available for viewing for up to 24 hours after the end of the course.

What will you NOT get?

  • Recipes, cooking tips or information on herbs for treating diseases or clinical matters.

Ayurveda dietetics for brain health and iron-deficiency anaemia
Day 6
Ayurveda dietetics for diabetes, Open discussion

Dr. Madhumitha Krishnan MD (Ayurveda)

Consultant Ayurveda Paediatrician. She has a special interest in educating mothers about the advantages of Ayurveda techniques in the care of newborn. Her research interests include management of children with Cerebral Palsy. Currently practicing in Bengaluru.


Megha PhD

Biochemistry and Structural Biology from Stony Brook University, New York. Associate Professor at Centre For Ayurveda Biology and Holistic Nutrition. Active researcher in the area of malnutrition, with keen interest in public health nutrition and identifying how traditional food knowledge can be integrated with modern biochemistry. Website:
