Online Workshop on Authentication and Traceability of Medicinal Actives from Naturals

Friday, 10th December

Workshop Overview

This workshop plans to begin by giving the participants an overview of methods for the “Authentication and Tracing of Medicinal Actives from Natural Sources” with an eventual intention of human oral-consumption. The course will start out with medicinal-plant conservation, the importance of a herbarium, use of DNA bar-coding for key plant actives followed by description of HPTLC as a technique with illustration of practical examples. A small video-module to explain the use of a in-house HPTLC instrument is also included. This exercise will showcase the strengths and superior value of this technique vis-a-vis HPLC & TLC.
