    The University Library is a nascent with specialized focus on developing multi-disciplinary, multi-format information resources collections providing knowledge and wisdom from various Indian systems of medicine. It is aimed at providing a ‘one stop information’ source related to Indian Medical Heritage. Over the last 25 years, the consistent efforts of the Parent foundation, FRLHT and the University is to procure as many titles and resources as possible to create a unique collections at this library useful for Students, scholars and the research community.

    The University Library is a unique repository for over 8600 strong book collection related to Indian Medical heritage that includes such diverse subject areas as Philosophy, Psychology, Conservation, Social Sciences, Science, Flora, Medicinal Plants, Medicine and Health, Pharmacology & therapeutics, Ayurveda, Yoga, Homeopathy, Siddha, Unani, Traditional Remedies, Agriculture, Forestry, Gardening, Veterinary Science, Etc.

    Presently TDU is looking to expand its collections with multi-disciplinary resources from Biomedicine, Integrative health sciences, Life Sciences, Social Sciences, Performing and Fine Arts, Engineering and Management.

    Library Timings:

    Monday to Friday: 9:30AM to 5:30PM
    Saturday and Sunday: HOLIDAY

  • Policies

    Collection Development

    It has been customary for the Researcher/ faculties to contribute in the Library Collection Development in the university. They must recommend the relevant reference books to the Librarian. They can also recommend any Knowledge consortium, online databases and journal subscription to the library.

    Otherwise any member of TDU and I-AIM may recommend the purchase of desired or relevant books and Journal subscription to the librarian. The library committee will decide based on input from faculty, available funds and academic need.

    Circulation Policy

    • Members who hold an ID-Card of TDU and I-AIM are allowed to use the library. Members may checkout the books during working hours and should sign out the items at the library counter.
    • Members may have a maximum of 5 books in their name at any time. The books are issued out for a maximum of 20 working days and they may be renewed if no reservations on the items indicated.
    • Library reserves the right to recall any issued book even before the due date. The minimum period before a return can be requested for books is five days.
    • Special collection/rare and old books /reference books (Encyclopedias, Handbooks, and Dictionaries) /expensive books and periodicals are not for Circulation. If needed reference can be made in the library.
    • Books and journals borrowed from the library may not be taken outstation unless special permission is given.

    Overdue & Lost Materials

    • Fines will be charged on late return of journals and books. The amount that charged will be available with the librarian. Amount collected through fines and replacement charges will be used for the library requirements.
    • In case of loss and defacement or damage of books, journals the cost of replacement with an additional 20% handling fee will be charged to the person. If the book is not available, a charge of double the actual price will be applicable.
  • Facilities

    Photocopy Facility

    • A photocopy machine will be available in the library for the use of members. Photocopying of materials available in the library is provided on payment basis.
    • Photocopying of only one chapter of a book or an article from a Journal for educational and research purposes is permitted under copyright law. Photocopying of any document cover to cover is prohibited.

    Inter-library Loan

    Inter library loan is a service through which library materials not owned by the ITDHST library may be requested from other libraries. The library obtains membership from ATREE, Bengaluru.

    External Users/ Visitors

    • External users from other institutions are allowed to use the library on production of their Institutional ID cards or a letter from their institution. External users are not permitted to issue out library items. External users may access the photocopy facility for use on an immediate payment basis.
    • Other visitors to the library may also use the library provided a staff member introduces them to the librarian. The concern staff member is responsible for the visitor. Externals users and visitors are allowed to use the library only during the office hours.

    Donation to the Library:

    • The library accepts donation of manuscripts, books, periodicals, special publications, audiovisual materials, electronic materials etc, from individuals and institutions. Requests for such donations may be made to the librarian. The decision of whether the offer is being accepted or rejected is communicated directly by librarian to potential donors in due course of time.
    • All gifted items to the library will have the TDU logo as well as the logo/name of the gifted. Once the books are gifted to the library, they cannot be taken back.
