Dhanwantari Jayanthi
28 Oct 2024
The 13th Day/ Tryodashi of Ashwini Month is celebrated as Dhanwantari Jayanthi, two days prior to the festival of Deepavali. Praying to Lord Dhanwantari on this day is particularly believed to bestow physicians of all streams with enhanced skill, devotees endowed with good health and long fruitful life. Traditionally, on this day a lamp facing the north-east direction is placed on the doorstep of homes to seek Lord Dhanwanthariās blessings, usher in health and wellbeing for the family.
At TDU, guided by the creational evolution and teachings of Lord Dhanwantari, we continue to learn, innovate, generate more evidence and work towards the contemporary relevance of the teachings of Ayurveda for the world, for Global Health.
All across the temples dedicated to the deity, Ayurveda institutions etc celebrate this auspicious day performing a devotion-ritual, Dhanwantari Homa with an intention to evoke Lord Dhanwantariās blessings, to bestow devotees with good health and relief from ailments.
On the auspicious day of Dhanwantari Jayanthi, having a Dhanwantari Homa seeking Lord Dhanwantariās blessings for our work, our people and universal well-being has been a tradition from the time of our inception. This year too, as always, a Dhanwantari Homa will be conducted, marking the special day on 29th of October from 6:30 am to 9:30 am at the IAIM hospital premises. The auspicious dayās celebrations are open to be attended by anyone who is a follower of Ayurveda.
