Master of Science (Life Sciences) – Clinical Translational Research

Presently the major lacunae observed in clinical research are

  1. Lack of proper documentation of clinical data in physician-friendly and research-friendly formats. This leads to gaps in source data for generating evidence on safety and efficacy.

  2. Inadequate training in rigorous design of inclusion criteria. This may result in
    • Heterogeneity inadvertently creeping into an assumed homogenous group and
    • Limited exposure of clinical researchers to appropriate mathematical, statistical and computational tools and methods for data analysis.

Who is the course designed for?

The course is designed for students who are interested in taking up clinical translational research in Ayurveda and Biomedicine.

Candidates from any stream of Biology (Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Genetics, Genomics, Medicine, Agriculture, Bio-Informatics, Biological Sciences, Microbiology, Marine Biology, Ayurveda, Biochemistry, and Pharmacy) who are interested in exploring robust innovative evidence-based medicine.

Charges will be as per University Norms for the Post Graduate Courses

A small number of scholarships of Rs 10,000 might be available on a competitive basis for the most meritorious applicants.

Career opportunities

The students trained through this program will have job opportunities in pharmaceutical industries, research labs, hospitals, universities, government-sponsored health projects.

Duration and credits of the course

The MSc by Research is a 2 years course with 68 credits, 18 credits are for course work and 50 credits for project work. The course work will include: topics like Transdisciplinary Research Framework, Medical Pluralism (Integrative Medicine Practice), Challenge of integrative health sciences, Statistical methods, Experimental and Clinical pharmacology, Scientific Writing and Reference Management and Ethics in clinical translational Research. While the project work is expected to be focused on specific clinical conditions of national importance, the course work is structured to enable the MSCR aspirant to help fill the above lacunae. Modern biology tools such as exosomes, non-invasive sources of disease biology biomarkers and their cutting-edge 21st century applications to Ayurveda and Integrative medicine practice relevant in the context of diseases in the Indian Sub-continent will be at the front and center of this course.
