The Rasashastra Database compiles and translates ancient texts on metals and mineral medicines, making this traditional knowledge accessible to students, researchers, and pharmaceutical industries. Traditionally used by Vaidyas alongside herbal medicines for faster relief, these formulations have been challenged by modern scientists, partly due to their documentation in Sanskrit. To bridge this gap, the database provides interpretative translations using authoritative sources, ensuring accurate knowledge transfer. Designed for diverse users, it offers concise summaries for undergraduate students while allowing postgraduate scholars and researchers to compare texts across medicinal and alchemical traditions. The digital format fosters hypothesis generation and broad applications in academia and industry. Rooted in secondary sources and enriched with rare photographs and historical archives, the project builds on prior research, funded by India’s Department of Science and Technology. By integrating traditional wisdom with modern technology, the database aims to revitalize Rasashastra for contemporary scientific exploration.
