Course Content

  • The classification of foods in Ayurveda: concepts and terms, including the three doshas and how they impact your body, mind, and emotions.
  • How to imagine a personalized meal plans based on Ayurveda dietary logic and food combinations that are tailored to your unique constitution and needs.
  • A comparison of Ayurveda dietetics with concepts in modern nutrition and its relevance to contemporary dietary practices.
  • Potential of intergrating Ayurveda and modern advise in dietetics for health and illness through examples.

Course Logistics

  • An academically intense 10-session course with live sessions spanning 1.5 hours each session.
  • Content rich course with real world examples, research papers and learning promoted by in-class games, assignments and quizzes that encourage self-discovery.
  • Course delivery in English
  • Attendance for live session is voluntary but highly recommended.
  • All lectures are recorded and shared. The recording will be available for 30 days.
  • Certification requires you to complete two assignments and five quizzes. This is a 1 Credit course.

Course Eligibility

Open to all knowledge-seekers regardless of age or educational background. High school biology and ability to understand English are the only requisites.

The content has been designed keeping in mind the curriculum that Indian undergraduate students in food, nutrition and dietetics are exposed to. If you are not sure if this course is for you, please contact us.

Is it mandatory to attend the course live?

No.

Attedance is not compulsory for live sessions, but highly recommended. We find that participants learn, retain information and enjoy the classes more when they discuss and play games in class.

Is this course online?

Yes.

There are two formats in which it is being administered.

Live session: 10, 1.5 hour sessions. Dates are announced 3-4 weeks in advance. Check back at the website for the next available date. Or email wellness@tdu.edu.in to receive the announcement on email .

Hybrid session:  15 hour recorded lectures will be shared for 1 month. Depending on demand, 4 live session dates will be shared.

I live in a different timezone. The classes are not easy to attend live. What should I do?

Option #1:  Sign up for the sessions. Catch all the recorded lectures.

Option #2:  We can collaborate to organise a program and time specifically for your Yoga school, college or community, Please write to wellness@tdu.edu.in. A minimum of 20 participants are required.

What can I expect from the course?

Led by an academician and practitioner in the field, this course will provide you with a comprehensive understanding of Ayurveda and its approach to dietetics. Through a combination of lectures, games and experiential learning opportunities, you will gain the knowledge of Ayurvedic principles.

Whether you are a practising dietitian/healthcare professional looking to incorporate Ayurveda into your practice or a food blogger/student who has done Biology in high school or an individual with a passion for Ayurveda concepts and its application in dietetics, this course is the perfect opportunity to deepen your understanding and take your food journey to the next level.

What can I do after this course?

Use the 1 credit certificate to demonstrate upskilling.

Join our Advanced Ayurveda Dietetics classes. Completion of this course is mandatory to be eligible for the next level.

Join our Internship in Ayurveda Dietetics. A 6 day intense hands-on personalised training in an Ayurvedic hospital, to elevate your counselling skills.

Our participants typically use this course for personal and family well-being.

Professionals use it to understand their clients better and the cultural context of traditional practices. They are able to use the concepts to further personalise dietary plans.

This is an academic course. It will not provide you training to practice Ayurveda food concepts professionally for therapeutic purposes.

We are happy to collaborate with colleges. Dates and timings can be optimised to fit your needs. The course can also be expanded to a 2 credit/ 30 hours offering. "Ayurveda Biology of Nutrition". We have administered this course to Mount Carmel College, Bangalore and St. Josheps College, Alapuzzha.
