Designed for diverse users, it offers concise summaries for undergraduate students while allowing postgraduate scholars and researchers to compare texts across medicinal and alchemical traditions. The digital format fosters hypothesis generation and broad applications in academia and industry
The Rasashastra portal compiles and translates information from the ancient texts on metals and mineral medicines, making this traditional knowledge accessible to the non-Ayurvedic fraternity as well.. Traditionally used by Vaidyas alongside herbal medicines for faster relief, these formulations have been challenged by modern scientists, partly due to their documentation in Sanskrit. To bridge this gap, the database provides interpretative translations using authoritative sources, ensuring accurate knowledge transfer.
Rooted in secondary sources and enriched with rare photographs and historical archives, the project builds on prior research, funded by the Department of Science and Technology, Government of India
