About M. Sc. by research in Plant Taxonomy course

It is a postgraduate Plant Taxonomy course. The course syllabus is designed in such a way that it imparts basic theoretical knowledge, lab skills along with extensive practical training in Plant systematics (Pure and applied taxonomy).

Any Graduate (B. Sc.) in Life Science who has passion for Plant life and has curiosity to learn about classical and modern methods of Plant Systematics, Evolution and Genetics. Applicant must submit statement of purpose.

Duration and Credits of the course

The minimum duration of M. Sc. by research in Plant Taxonomy is 2 years which is divided into four semesters. This is a 75 credit program with 25 credits for course-work and 50 credits for project work.

How is the course taught?

Lectures will be generally posted online and class room will be used for creative learning and discussions. Workshops are days in which you learn about a technique or a skill in an intensive way. Practical assignment and field work will be given large emphasis. Assessment system will be competency based.

Fieldwork

Field Skills in Plants Taxonomy through challenging projects such as preparation of floras of specific geographies at a taluka level in remote locations, Revisiting MPCAs and impact of Conservation initiatives on Forest Vegetation, Population of medicinal plant species of conservation concern etc.
