Indira Vijaysimha (India) is an educationist who has been exploring ways to make school education ecologically conscious for many decades. In 1995, inspired by Rabindranath Tagore and his philosophy of education, she founded an alternative school in Bangalore, called Poorna Learning Centre. She has been associated with Bhoomi College for several years and is delighted to be on the advisory committee of the Teach for Nature fellowship program. She has also served as faculty at Azim Premji University and welcomed the opportunities it gave to discuss education in a wider context. Post-retirement she has renewed her work at Poorna Learning Centre and is currently involved in strengthening community level initiatives to promote sustainable living through the newly formed Bija Trust.
