Dr. Madhavi Peters is an international corporate lawyer-turned rural development professional. She has been working at the grassroots level in Kargil, Ladakh since 2018, where she founded the Tropicalist Trust in Kargil, a partner to TDU in its interventions in that region. She has also been active in community outreach in Toronto, Malaysia, Singapore and now, Bangalore.

Dr. Madhavi Peters (Juris Doctor, Toronto, M.A. Johns Hopkins) has worked on rural livelihoods at the grassroots level in the Himalayas and Peninsular Malaysia since 2017. More recently, her focus geography has been Kargil, UT Ladakh, where she set up an NGO that has partnered with TDU for groundbreaking medicinal plant biodiversity documentation and education work. She helped set up Kargil's first and largest Farmer Producer Organization and acquired the first solar cold storage for the farmers in the region. She has organized training in various value additions based on medicinal plants, and set up a social enterprise that produces energy bars and chilli sauces, all made from local produce, which retail in Army outlets and in stores throughout Kargil. Previously, she had a career as an international corporate lawyer, working in Tokyo and Singapore, and before that worked in media and communications in Hong Kong, Singapore, Toronto and Washington D. C.
